Product Information
Zinc is an essential trace element, i.e. it is vital for humans and cannot be produced by the body itself. There are no classic storage organs for zinc. It must be taken in regularly with food to prevent a deficiency. Zinc is a component of numerous enzymes and proteins and is therefore involved in a large number of reactions in the body, e.g. in cell growth and wound healing, in various metabolic processes, in the immune system and in reproduction.1
In chelated compounds (e.g. zinc bisglycinate), the mineral is bound to amino acids and thus protected from interactions with food or medication.2
Acerola cherries are native to Central and South America. The sour acerola fruit is one of the fruits with the highest vitamin C content. The acerola fruit extract (Malpighia glabra L.) which is used in OPTAMINS Zinc Bisglycinate + Acerola contains 25 % vitamin C. Vitamin C is one of the best known nutrients of all and it contributes to a variety of tasks in the body, e.g. for the immune system or protection of cells from oxidative stress.
