Product Information
Magnesium is the second most common intracellular cation in the human body. Around 60 % of the total of around 20-30 g of magnesium in our body is found in the bones, with a further 30 % in the liver and muscles. Magnesium is also found in many tissues in which calcium plays a physiological role. Magnesium protects the cell from an intracellular calcium overload in the calcium channels of the cell membrane. However, it is also an essential cofactor for around 600 enzyme reactions.1
The bioavailability of organic magnesium compounds (Mg-citrate, Mg-aspartate, Mg-bisglycinate, Mg-gluconate) appears to be better than that of inorganic magnesium compounds (e.g. Mg-sulphate, Mg-oxide, Mg-carbonate). However, the correct magnesium dosage is more important for an effect than bioavailability.1
OPTAMINS Magnesium Complex does combine magnesium oxide, magnesium L-ascorbate, magnesium malate, magnesium salts of citric acid (tri-magnesium dicitrate) and magnesium bisglycinate. It is a mixture of organic and non-organic sources which provides you with 375 mg.
